Tutor Bio:
Rachel is a native deaf cuer and a fluent ASL user. She became a certified instructor in 2018 and has taught Cued American English workshops for parents and professionals as part of the national Early Hearing Detection and Intervention conference and nonprofit programming. Rachel has extensive experience teaching children how to cue as part of Cue Camp Mechuwana, Arlington County Public Schools, and her own four CODAs (Children of Deaf Adults). Rachel has also presented Cued American English at state-level conferences, tutored her personal acquaintances and family members, and taught beginner courses using the Cue College CS100 format. Rachel has learned Hebrew and Spanish using the Cued Speech system.
Special Interests: Rachel has volunteered as part of the National Cued Speech Association’s Materials Committee to develop children’s learning materials for Cued American English. Rachel is an active member of the “Cuemmunity” and has a deaf native cuer perspective, as well as a parent’s perspective.
